Chromatics – Kill For Love

I’m loving this new indie pop song from the Portland, OR band Chromatics. It really has everything I’m looking for in a pop song. “Kill For Love” has a nice 80’s lo fi feel to it and it has a great hook and chorus. Definitely one of the best pop songs I’ve heard this year.

★ Of The Week: The Shins – Port Of Morrow

This album is one of the most positive albums I’ve heard in a long time. It’s encouraging and reminds the listener of people they love and friends that have carried them through hard times. It’s an album full of great pop music and great lyrics. Definitely give this album a listen folks.

Anais Mitchell – Coming Down

“Coming Down” is one of the most beautiful tracks from Anais Mitchell’s new album Young Man In America. Her new record is one of the best singer songwriter albums I’ve heard all year. It captures the beauty and pain we find in America quite well.

Beach House – Myth

“Myth” is a beautiful new pop song from the band Beach House. This song builds higher and higher with pop sounds reminiscent of Arcade Fire. Honestly I think Beach House are one of the best alternative pop bands around today. Victoria Legrand’s vocals are great on every song she sings and her voice is very unique. The band’s music is beautiful and well produced. Beach House’s album Teen Dream was one of my favorite albums of 2010, and I’m certain their new album Bloom which will be coming out May 17 is going to be one of my favorite albums of 2012.

Arctic Monkeys – R U Mine?

Man oh man! This new Arctic Monkeys’ single really bowled me over. It flat out rocks! I’ve been enjoying Arctic Monkeys’ most recent album Suck It And See but I’ve missed the punk rock that made their first two albums so memorable. “R U Mine?” certainly brings back the punk rock sound effectively. This song has a great guitar riff throughout and just seems to flow so well. If I would use one word to describe this song it would be “cool”. This song and video are just so damn cool. It’s refreshing to hear a great new rock song.
